Mario Botta

Mario Botta is a Swiss architect and designer, born in 1943 in Mendrisio. Known for its expressive style combining modernity with geometric precision and historical inspirations, it creates both public buildings and sacred buildings. His designs are characterized by a massive form, a strong rhythm, the use of natural materials and light as a key element of architect Ton. Botta designed, among others St. John the Baptist in Mogno, Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco and many prestigious private homes and theaters. As an interior and furniture designer, he cooperated with companies such as Artemide or alias. In 1996 he founded the Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio. His work is a dialogue between modernity and tradition, space and spirituality.
