Ernesto Gismondi

Ernesto Gismmondi (1931–2020) was an Italian engineer, designer and visionary, founder of the brand Artemide - one of the most important lighting companies in the world. He combined scientific precision with an artistic vision, creating lamps that set new standards in design and technology. He was the author of such projects as the futuristic Discovery series or classic Nur, and also supported cooperation with the best designers (including De Lucchi, Hadid). Highly recognized as a contribution to the development of world design, he received, among others Compasso d’Oro award for lifetime work. His philosophy "The Human Light" emphasized the role of light as an emotional and functional element in human life.
