Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt

Vibeke Fonnesberg Schmidt is a Danish designer and artist who combines craft, art and design. Born in 1967, she studied ceramics in Japan, and then graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and Glasgow School of Art. Initially, she created unique works of porcelain, but over time she focused on lighting design, using plexiglas and brass. Her works are characterized by geometric forms and play of light, creating a harmonious, though dynamic aesthetics. She is known for designs for brands such as Normann Copenhagen and Gubi. Its lamps, often inspired by architecture and art, are handmade in the Copenhagen studio. Fonnesberg Schmidt won numerous awards, including Craftsman of the Year in 2016. Her works were presented in many museums, including at Designmuseum Danmark and Trapholt Museum.
