Grossman Cobra Black Wall Lamp Gubi

Next to the Grashopp lamp, the presented model is the most popular design of the author. In 1950, the lamp won the Good Design Award and became part of the Good Design Show exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. The lamp owes its name to the shape that resembles the cobra head.

Cobra wall lamp is available in two colors; black and white and in the version with switching cable. The base and lampshade were made of steel. The lampshade can be tilted 90 degrees from the starting to the horizontal position and it can also be turned 360 degrees.

Greta Magnusson Grossman was a Swedish furniture designer and architect, considered one of the pioneers of modernism in Los Angeles. In 1940 she moved to the USA, where she became a key figure in California modernism. Her projects combined European influence with the American lifestyle, which attracted the attention of Hollywood stars. Her most famous works include the Grasshopper lamp (1947) and Cobra (1950). She also designed innovative furniture and buildings, including modern houses in Los Angeles. Her works were characterized by a simple form, slender lines and functionality. Magnusson-Grossman is considered a design icon, whose work enjoy great recognition to this day.
