Butterfly is a small wall lamp designed in 1964 for Arnold Wiigs Fabrikker and later manufactured by Høvik Lys from Norway. In 2008, Northern decided to re-introduce this treasure of Norwegian design to the market. Its uniqueness lies in the combination of simplicity of form with a well-preserved, indirect way of exposing light, creating a bright but warm atmosphere.
The lamp looks simple, but is very elegant and decorative at the same time. It looks great as a single element, and even better when several lamps are connected in vertical or horizontal groups.

Sven Ivar Disthe was one of the greatest Norwegian furniture designers of the 20th century, known for his elegant and functional design. Born in Oslo, he began his career as a carpenter, and then graduated from industrial design at the Royal College of Art in London in 1953. Already during his studies he designed a luxurious chest for Queen Elizabeth II on the occasion of her coronation. After returning to Norway in 1958, he founded his own design studio, cooperating with his wife, Trinelise Dysthe, an interior designer. His breakthrough work was the 1001 armchair for Dokka Møbler from 1960, which became an icon of Scandinavian modernism.
