Friso Kramer

Friso Kramer was one of the most important Dutch designers of the 20th century, known for its functional, timeless industrial design. Born in 1922 in Amsterdam, he gained international recognition thanks to the cult Emu Revolt chair, designed Emu in 1953 for the Ahrend brand. Kramer focused on simplicity, ergonomics and durability - his designs were created for mass production and everyday use. He collaborated with many reputable companies and was a member of the Total Design - Avangard Dutch project collective. The style characteristic of Kramer combines modern minimalism with engineering precision. His furniture, often used in schools and offices, has become icons of European utility design and to this day inspire designers around the world.
