Raku is a modern, portable lamp from the catalog of a renowned Danish brand Andtradition. Named after the traditional Japanese pottery technique. The lamp has a hand-carved ceramic base, which differs slightly in each element, thus emphasizing its originality. The lamp has a dimming function that can change the light intensity.
The lamp shade is made of brass, and the ceramic base is molded and covered with a glaze that gives it a crack pattern. There are perforated elements along the edge of the lampshade, which gently disperse the light into the surroundings.
Sebastian Herkner is a German designer whose style combines craftsmanship, tradition and modern technologies. He graduated from Offenbach University of Art and Design, and in 2006 he founded his own studio. It creates furniture, lighting and everyday items for recognized brands such as &Tradition, PULPO and Fritz Hansen. His designs are characterized by soft forms, a sense of color and respect for materials - from glass to ceramics and wood. Herkner values cooperation with craftsmen and is often inspired by cultures from outside Europe.
