Michael Graves

Michael Graves was an American architect and designer, a key figure of postmodernism in architecture and industrial design. He studied at Harvard, and his career included both monumental buildings and everyday objects. He collaborated with companies such as Alessi, target or disney, designing products that combined functionality with funny, friendly aesthetics. His most famous utility design is a kettle with a bird -shaped whistle for Alessi (1985), which became a design icon. After the disease in 2000, he was also involved in the design of medical equipment and furniture available to people with disabilities. Graves believed that a good design should be beautiful, available and useful. His work had a huge impact on the development of contemporary design and democratization of good design.
