Born in Connecticut, USA, George Nelson (1908-1986) was one of the most influential figures of the early modern design period. Educated at Yale as an architect and fine artist, he believed that the designer's job was to improve the world by using the perfection of nature's works as a guide. He worked with the world's leading modernists including Le Corbusier, Mies Van der Rohe, Walter Gropius, Gio Ponti and many others.
George Nelson was one of the leading American designers of the 20th century, born in 1908. An architect, designer and design theorist, he played a key role in shaping modern industrial design. For many years he cooperated with Herman Miller, where he served as design director.
