Simone Smelt

Simone Smelt is a Dutch designer from Amsterdam, a graduate of Design Academy Eindhoven (2017), specializing in creating sculptural furniture and collector facilities. Her works combine a minimalist form with a distinct detail, exploring the boundaries between functionality and art. Smelt puts great emphasis on sustainable development using monomaterials and designing easy -to -recycled products and optimized for transport. Her projects, such as Speculum and 30x30, were presented at Dutch Design Week, and cooperation with Studio Henk, Fést Amsterdam and Zuiver has resulted in collections of furniture combining aesthetics with functionality. SMELT works were published in international media, including Dezeen, Vogue and Elle Decoration, and staged at events such as Art Rotterdam and 3 Days of Design Copenhagen. Her Pode Jat for design combines intuition with material tests, creating objects that are both visually calm and expressive.
