Niels Gammelgaard

Niels Gammelgaard is a Danish industrial designer known for minimalist and functional furniture designs. He gained international fame thanks to many years of cooperation with IKEA, where he created iconic products such as the Folke chair or sofa moment - the first seating set for self -assembly. In 1978 he founded the Pelikan Design studio designing for brands such as Fritz Hansen or cappellini. His style combines industrial character with the lightness of form and availability. Gammelgaard was honored with the prestigious Thorvald Bindesbøll award for contribution to the democratization of design. His works are icons of modern design, which to this day inspire designers and users around the world.
