Valerio Sommella

Valerio Sommella is an Italian industrial designer born in 1980 in COR Ton IE, a graduate of the Milan University of Technology with distinction. He started his career in the studio Stefano Giovannoni, and then worked in Marcel Wanders's team in Amsterdam. In 2009 he founded his own studio in Milan, where he designs lighting, furniture and accessories for brands such as Alessi, Apple, Moooi, Falmec, KDLN, Panasonic or Honda. His Pode Jat design is based on the treatment of each project as a separate story, resulting from the dialogue between context, user, material and technology. His awarded projects include Kushi and Nami lamps, the Brigata kitchen set and the HYPPO collection for Cantarutti. Sommella combines functionality with the poetics of form, creating objects with a strong identity and timeless aesthetics.
