IB Kofod-Larsen was a Danish architect and furniture designer known for its elegant, functional design that fits into the aesthetics of Scandinavian modernism. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, and was the greatest successes in the 1950s and 1960s. He created mainly from wood often combining teak with natural skin, which gave his projects a warm, luxurious character. His iconic armchairs, such as "Elizabeth Chair" or "Seal Chair", are characterized by soft lines, organic shapes and extraordinary comfort. He collaborated, among others with Faarup Møbelfabrik and Selig. Today, his furniture is valued as design icons and achieve high prices at auctions.
