The Flowerpot lamp became synonymous with the American Flower Power counterculture movement of the late 1960s. Reflecting a break from convention in favor of a more open, modern mentality that promotes peace and harmony. This was the thinking of lamp designer Verner PanTon, one of the most forward-looking talents of his time. Verner PanTon was one of the greatest Danish designers of the 20th century, who revolutionized the world of design. Known for his futuristic Pode approach, he created furniture, lighting and accessories that broke traditional forms and introduced bold colors and modern materials. His most famous work is the PanTon chair - the first ever fully one-piece seat made of plastic, which combines sculptural form with functionality. He collaborated with brands such as Vitra and &Tradition. His designs combined functionality with experimentation with form, which made him a design icon of the 1960s and 1970s.
