Alvaro Siza

Álvaro Siza Vieira is one of the greatest contemporary architects, the winner of the Pritzker Award (1992), the Golden Lion Biennale in Venice and many prestigious awards. His style combines modernist simplicity with exceptional sensitivity to the context of the place. Sisa designs are characterized by a subtle play of light, clean lines and skilful entry in the surroundings, which means that the buildings harmoniously coexist with the landscape. The most famous projects include Casa de Chá da Boa Nova, Tidal pool at Leça da Palmeira, Serralves Museum in Porto or the church of Santa Maria in Marco de Canaves. Siza is also a professor who has developed generations of architects.
