Richard Sapper

Richard Sapper

Richard Sapper was a German industrial designer, known for its innovative Pode ście combining technology, functionality and elegant minimalism. He studied philosophy, anatomy and engineering, which influenced his interdisciplinary Pode Jat to design. He worked, among others for Mercedes, IBM, Alessi or Artemide. His most famous project is the TIZIO lamp (1972) - a wireless structure with counterweights, recognized as a 20th century design icon. Sapper was also a co -creator of the first IBM ThinkPad notebook. He won many prestigious awards, including 10 gold medals Compasso d’Oro. His works are characterized by minimalism of form, deep understanding of the user and technological innovation, which makes him one of the most important designers of the industrial design of the 20th century.
