Tokyo desk lamp first saw the light of day in 1980. This unconventional lamp designed by Shigeaki Asahara has been re-launched by thePWTBS brand. Retaining its essence, the Tokyo lamp entered the modern world where its rigorous idiom was slightly challenged to shake up its timeless form a bit. In addition to allowing dimming of the LED light intensity, the spherical dimmer ball allows the user to become tangible at a time when the importance of tactile sensitivity decreases. Providing both adjustable light intensity and adjustable tilt, the Tokio lamp works perfectly as both a work lamp and a cozy reading lamp.

Shigeaki Asahara is a Japanese designer who began his career in the 1980s combining Japanese aesthetics with European modernism. After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts, he moved to Belgium, where he gained international recognition. His style is characterized by a harmonious combination of organic and geometric forms and the use of natural, balanced materials. He collaborated with many reputable companies in furniture, lighting and household appliances sectors. His projects were presented at numerous exhibitions around the world and have won many prestigious awards. Asahara is also involved in design education, lecturing at reputable universities in Japan and Belgium.
