Ettore Sottsass (1917–2007) was an Italian architect and designer who revolutionized the world of design, rejecting functionalistic dogmas for emotions, color and form. He collaborated with Olivetti (including the Valentine writing machine) and was the founder of the Memphis group, which in the 1980s promoted postmodern design - bold, geometric and provocative. He designed for brands such as Alessi, Knoll or Kartell. His works, often balancing between art and design, are present in the most important museums in the world, including Moma. Sottsass remains an icon of avant -garde thinking about design.
