His most famous work is Move ™ - an iconic balancing chair, which has been revolutionizing the way of sitting for years. Øie by profession was an engineer, and his work always combined functionality with a deep understanding of human anatomy. In design, he focused on activity, freedom and naturalness of movement - he believed that the furniture should not limit, but support the body. Move ™, designed in the 1980s, still remains one of the most important symbols of Norwegian utility design. Minimalism of form and maximalism of function - is the essence of his philosophy.
