Merkur is a modern Pode take on the archetypal dining chair. This Scandinavian chair was originally designed for one of the most monumental buildings in Norway, the Oslo Stock Exchange. Using traditional woodworking techniques to create a timeless form, the solid wood structure is available with or without armrests and can be partially upholstered in various fabrics or natural leather.
SKOGSTAD & WAERNES is a design studio from Oslo, founded in 2020 by Norwegian designers Petter Skogstad and Fredrik Waernes (both born in 1985). They met during product design studies at Oslo Metropolitan University and Ecal in Switzerland. Before starting their own studio, they gained experience in reputable offices such as Anderssen & Voll, Andreas Engesvik and Snohetta. Their works include furniture, lighting and utility items combining the honesty of the form with the responsible Pode design for design. They collaborated with brands such as Audo Copenhagen (Merkur chair for the Oslo stock exchange) ?, Roros Tweed (Plepel Collection) and forum forms (Bud chair). Their designs are characterized by minimalist aesthetics, functionality and a subtle expression of form.
