Inspired by the Scandinavian heritage of furniture design and craftsmanship, In Between is the result of Sami Kallio's solid foundation in traditional woodworking techniques and his attention to the smallest details. The adventure with this unique series of furniture began with one chair, which later resulted in a series of furniture including both tables and chairs.
The legs and armrest are made of solid wood, and the seat and side panels are made of veneer.
Available chair colors/wood color; bleached oak, smoked oak, black lacquered oak and oiled walnut.
Sami Kallio is a Finnish-Swedish designer and craftsman, whose work combines Scandinavian minimalism with deep respect for traditional craftsmanship. He was born in Helsinki, but grew up in Gothenburg, where he also runs his studio. Kallio specializes in furniture design, especially chairs, using classic carpentry techniques, such as wood turning or hot forming. His work is characterized by the purity of the form, functionality and precise performance. It is known, among others from the "In Between" collection for & tradition, which combines modernity with the Nordic heritage. He also designed for Marek Hans K, Northern or nikari. Kallio believes that a good design should be available, durable and honest with materials.
