Marcel Gascoin was a French designer and interior architect, considered one of the pioneers of modern design in France after World War II. Known for the creation of functional, modular furniture that responded to the needs of the rebuilding society. Gascoin combined minimalism with practicality, creating sets of furniture for small spaces often for housing programs supported by the state. His Pode Jat was based on rationality, order and ergonomics, which made his work innovative while the decorative style dominated. He collaborated with young designers, such as Pierre Guariche or Joseph-André Motte, affecting the development of French modernism. Today, his projects are re -produced, including by Gubi, and considered to be timeless classics.
