Gabriella Crespi

Gabriella Crespi was an Italian designer and artist known for luxurious furniture and utility items combining art with functionality. She graduated from architecture at the Milan University of Technology, and her work gained publicity in the 1960s and 1970s, when she cooperated, among others with the Dior fashion house. Her designs, often made by hand from brass, glass and wood were distinguished by the sensuality of the form, elegance and the possibility of transformation like the famous tables that could be spread or changed their height. Crespi was inspired by nature, orient and sacred art. After decades of silence, she returned with new works in the 21st century, and her original designs are today the icons of Italian collector's design.
