Jacques Adnet

Jacques Adnet was a French architect and designer known for his elegant style combining functionalism with luxury. He was a representative of the Art Deco trend and modernism. He graduated from École des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and at the age of only 28 he became the artistic director of La Compagnie des Arts Français. Adnet was famous for the use of precious materials; skin, glass and metal in clean, geometric forms. In the 1950s he collaborated with Hermès, creating, among others Leather furniture and mirrors with characteristic stripes. He also designed the interiors of prestigious institutions including the President of France's office. His style was sophisticated, modern and timeless. Today, the furniture of the French design and the sought -after collector's objects connecting tradition with modern elegance are icons of French design.
