Silla40 R70 Chair Sancal

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Sancal, Isaac Piñeiro from the Nadadora design studio proposed a concept of 4 chairs, 1 for each decade of the Sancal brand. Instead of 4 completely different chairs, Nadadora decided that the design would make even more sense if each chair had the same structure.

The backrest of the R20 symbolizes concepts taken from the work of Marcel Breuer and his Cesca chair. The R30 backrest is a nod to the Scandinavian design of the 1930s. The R40 variant represents the organic design of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s and celebrates the LCW chairs designed by Charles Eames. The postmodern influences of the 1970s are infused in the R70, inspired by designs such as Synthesis45 by Ettore Sottssas for Olivetti.
