Product description

The Rm58 Classic model is an intricate reconstruction of the original armchair by Roman Modzelewski. Today, this unique armchair, handmade using the latest technologies, decorates not only home living rooms, but also various public spaces. In 1958, it was one of the earliest Polish examples of furniture made of polyester-glass laminate. What is extremely important, the completely closed, organic form of the seat had no equivalent at that time, neither in Poland nor elsewhere.

Design

Roman Modzelewski

Roman Modzelewski (1912–1997) was a Polish furniture designer, a painter, a sculptor and a teacher. He was born in Łoźnych (currently Lithuania), studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, and after the war he co -founded and for many years he was the rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. As an artist, he experimented with form, color and material, creating innovative furniture designs that combined aesthetics with functionality. His best -known projects are RM56, RM57 and RM58 armchairs, which have become icons of Polish design. The RM58 armchair, made of polyester-glass laminate, was one of the first furniture of this type in Poland and gained recognition at international exhibitions. His works are in the collections of such institutions as Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the National Museum in Warsaw.
