Claus C. Simonsen

Claus C. Simonsen is a Danish architect and furniture designer who graduated from the architecture school in Aarhus in 1994. Although he initially focused on architecture, working, among others For Henning Larsen Architects in Copenhagen, his passion for furniture design led to the founding of his own studio - Gene public design, and later the Simonsen studio. Simonsen believes that furniture design involves improvisation around archetypal forms such as a chair or table, which it compares to jazz, where musicians improvise on known standards. His Pode combines functionality with aesthetics, creating timeless and innovative projects. He collaborated with reputable brands, such as Softline, Normann Copenhagen, eilersen, Frandsen Lighting and Bruunmunch. In 2014, he began working with Bruunmunch, which resulted in the Plachair I S Ton e collections.
