The Original 1227 desk lamp by Anglepoise, introduced to the market in 1935, is a classic, iconic and recognizable design that combines excellent design, functionality and high quality workmanship. Its characteristic design is based on a unique mechanism of balancing springs, thanks to which the direction of light can be smoothly adjusted. It is a perfect solution for architects, designers, draftsmen and all people who need it as a work tool.
George Carwardine (1887–1947) he was a British engineer and designer, known primarily as the creator of the Anglepoise lamp - icons of modern design. Specializing in vehicle suspension systems, in 1932 he developed an innovative spring mechanism, which allowed for precise lamp setting in any position without blocking it. Initially, he produced lamps in his workshop, but due to the growing interest, in 1934 he established cooperation with Herbert Terry & Sons, which began the mass production of the model Anglepoise 1227. Thanks to its functionality and aesthetics, the lamp quickly gained popularity in both industrial and home environments, becoming a symbol of British design. To this day, Anglepoise is valued for its durability, flexibility and timeless style, being an inspiration for many designers around the world.
