Arnold Madsen

Arnold Madsen was a Danish furniture designer and upholstery known for elegant, hand -made projects that are today considered a classic of Scandinavian modernism. He worked in Denmark for many years, he worked in Copenhagen, where he founded his own Madsen & Schubell studio. His most recognizable work is the "Clam Chair" armchair from 1944, which is distinguished by soft, organic lines and a cozy form resembling a shell. Madsen often experimented with form and technique, combining wood with luxurious upholstery, which ensured its projects with a timeless character. Although for years he remained less known than its contemporary, today his furniture achieves high prices at auctions and are a symbol of the Danish design of the 20th century.
