Mogens Lassen

Mogens Lassen was a Danish architect and designer, considered a pioneer of functionalism and modernism in Denmark. After graduating from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, he worked at the Tyge Hvassa office, and in the years 1927–1928 he stayed in Paris, where he encountered the work of Le Corbusier, which influenced his Pode to architecture. He mainly designed residential buildings, including villas and apartment buildings, as well as interiors of shops and public facilities. His furniture, such as Kubus candlestick or folding Egyptian table, combine the simplicity of form with precision and have become icons of Danish design. In 1971 he received the medal of C.F. Hansen for an outstanding contribution to architecture. Today, his projects are valued for timeless aesthetics and functionality.
