Studying 289 photographs on 368 pages, we visit the houses of designers, entrepreneurs, architects, photographers and stylists. Reaching deeper than the decor, the author Nathan Williams invites every owner of the property to share their values, the ways in which these ideals shaped their houses and the ways in which their homes in turn shaped them. The heart of every residential space is the aesthetics shaped by the image of a resident about what is most important - whether it is a collection of inherited French antiques, a table long enough for dinner party for a dozen people, a bit of sketches of children glued to walls or minimalist rooms reserved for creative thinking. A common feature of each of these houses is that they were built carefully, slowly and with intention.
