Chair S 43 Smooth Black Thonet

The pure, restrained form of the S 43 chair makes it a model project in the spirit of modernism. Thanks to T Emu, an object was created that looks good in every place where both simplicity and quality are desirable. The designer removed the hind legs from the chairs, which for centuries were created according to the same rules. He combined a steel frame with formed plywood on the seat and resistance, thus creating an absolute simplification. Thanks to the comfort Emu the effect of springing the frame, the upholstery is possible, but it is not unnecessary to achieve comfort.

Mart Stam was a Dutch architect, urban planner and furniture designer, one of the pioneers of modernism. He became famous for creating the first chair on a steel frame without the back legs, the so -called Cantilever chair, which became an icon of Bauhaus and modern design. Stam took part in the projects of the famous Weissenhof housing estate in Stuttgart and had a great impact on the development of modern housing architecture.
