Jaroslav Jurica

Jaroslav Juřica is a Czech designer and sculptor specializing in product design and industrial design. He graduated from bachelor's studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Polytechnic in Brno, and then obtained a master's degree at the School of Design of the University of Lund, Sweden. In 2008, he completed an internship at the Dutch studio Demakersvan, where he created the "Drawerment" project - reinterpretation of a classic chest of drawers. In the same year he participated in the S.T.A.R. Design in cooperation with NASA, designing a "butterfly" - a system of storage of geological testing tools on the moon. His most famous project is the "002" chair for the Czech brand Ton, which is a modern reinterpretation of the classic NO. 14, reduced to three elements, two of which are identical and form legs, backrest and armrests. Juřica also collaborated with Jelínek, creating a collection of furniture inspired by the craft tradition of the Moravian region of Wallachia, which won the Editors-in-in-Chief Award at Designblok 2014. His works are characterized by a minimalist Pode} functionality and deep understanding of the material.
